June Guacamole Recipe, Freedom, Saturday FUN and more...

Wow! June is here…who can believe that? I love this month! June 2nd is my oldest daughter Lily’s birthday…and she turns 8 this year. It seems like just yesterday that I was on bed rest trying not to have her…and then at the perfect time she came. Lily, just like the beautiful flowers and weather of June, is such a source of beauty and goodness in my life! I am so thankful for her! And on that note I hope you are anticipating the beauty and warmth June brings in your life!

In June I am looking forward to offering more Saturday Kleman Plaza Days. If you are experiencing a lack of motivation or results as compared to what you would like to experience in your physical fitness journey…Saturday Workouts might be just the thing to get you going again. These workouts are perfect for so many reasons: cardio-cardio-cardio, body resistance moves to tighten and tone arms/legs/abs/back, inclines, fountains, stairs…etc… It is a perfect place to exercise outside! Please feel free to join us at one of our upcoming classes. I post upcoming classes on my facebook page…stay tuned. IT IS SO FUN!

I just got back from a super weekend with my sister and her family in Estero. One night she made me her new Guacamole recipe and I am now HOOKED! It is from Dr. Oz’s book. I have found a similar recipe on his blog that I tweaked a little:

The Taste Tester's Guacamole

Ingredients
3 ripe avocados (hass)
3/4 cup diced red onions
2 medium tomatoes, diced
Juice of 1 lime or 2 T of apple cider vinegar
1 large jalapeno, finely chopped
3/4 tsp salt or kosher
1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup chopped cilantro

Directions
Mash avocado, stir in the onions, tomatoes, lime, jalapenos. Add the salt pepper and cilantro and combine well.

Cover with plastic wrap directly on the guacamole to avoid discoloration and store for 1/2 hour before serving to give flavors time to develop fully.

Recipe created especially for The Dr. Oz Show by food stylist, Ulli Stachl.

Healthy fats are a must for anyone wanting to eat balanced, healthy and maintain a goal weight.

Exercise and diet…They DON’T have to be the two most nasty words in the English language. If you are not experiencing the benefits of a healthy lifestyle (such as energy, clarity, sick free, pain free living, joy)…all you have to do is make 1 SMALL CHANGE TODAY! Daily start making different choices to get those different results.
*Try replacing non nutritious snacks with some whole foods. Try swapping out some meat based meals for some plant based ones throughout the week. Try a new food! Find a friend that cooks well and go copy her recipe files. Discuss this area of your life with someone.
*Have you struggled with your weight all of your life? Have you experienced eating disorders? Do you feel overwhelmed by changing your current patterns? I promise you that freedom is your to be had! I encourage you to share this part of your life with a loyal and trustworthy friend that can help you grow and heal. I sometimes offer workshops concerning these very topics. Let me know if this is something you are interested in.
*Do you need encouragement or motivation to stay the course? Get a vision, get a plan.  Just today I was talking with Jessica during our 5 miler about how I have got to lay down the chips. As funny as that sounds, it helps to evaluate what you are actually doing vs. what you think you are doing. It provides some direction, accountability and goals to this area of life. Mark down those exercise classes and GO! Work that body, and it will renew its youth. If you are tired all of the time then get that heart rate up. If you feel ‘old’, start a consistent strength training routine. Research shows time and again how strength training is the best form of exercise to turn back the clocks, strengthen those bones, and burn fat hours after your workout is over! Remember, exercise is a choice many times and not a feeling. My job is to research and creatively build weekly classes so that you can just show up and do the work…no planning or thinking necessary on your part! There are countless days when 5am seems C.R.A.Z.Y. I know! But I always have a much more productive and focused day when I get up and go. I also don’t feel too guilty about grabbing a nap those days too
*Last but not least HAVE FUN! It is the summer for goodness sake…HAVE FUN!

Check out our JUNE SCHEDULE and make this summer the summer you got in shape and stayed that way!
